Well, June 27th has come and gone again and I was busy being ill at the time so I kind of misplaced a few thoughts like your birthday......(and mine). So now that my little pea brain seems to be working again I wish you the happiest of birthdays and wonderful nylon experiences to enjoy. You must hear this all the time, but I have to compliment you on your website. It has to be the classiest stockings and garters site on the Internet bar none, due to the tasteful and fashionable selection of stockings, and of course, the legs used to model them. I’ve surfed all the different pages of your site, and although I’d browsed through the testimonials in “From A Man’s Point Of View” before, I’d never thought about the questions you asked in the introduction. Until now. Why is it that some men like to see women in stockings? What is it about stockings that make me react the way I do?

At first I thought my predilection for stockings was an unnatural and unhealthy preoccupation. My ex-wife used to berate me for it. In her native tongue she used to call me a fetishista, or fetishist. I had to look it up in the dictionary.

According to Merriam-Webster’s online dictionary, a fetish is “an object or bodily part whose real or fantasied presence is psychologically necessary for sexual gratification and that is an object of fixation to the extent that it may interfere with complete sexual expression.” There are some salient points to make about this definition.

First, the definition says that the object is psychologically necessary for sexual gratification. In other words, if it is absent, there ain’t gonna be much satisfaction. Personally speaking, stockings and garters only enhance the satisfaction of a sexual encounter, they’re not necessary for that satisfaction to occur.

Second, the definition says that the object is a fixation that may interfere with complete sexual expression. Again, this is saying if it is missing, there’s not much going on. Despite the differences between me and my ex-wife, we never had any problems in the bedroom, presumed fetishes or no. So I guess I’m not as fixated as she would’ve had me to believe.

But I am still left wondering about your questions. Why do I like stockings on women so much?

Not to get overly Freudian or anything, I think initially it has to do with mothers being the role models for the romantic relationships with women that boys eventually pursue. After all, a mother is the first significant relationship a boy has with a member of the opposite sex, and the occasional, unintentional glimpse a boy gets from accidentally walking into his mom’s bedroom while she is dressing, for example, piques his curiosity about the differences between boys and girls.

My mom used to wear stockings, as was the fashion back then. My mom had great legs, and as young as I was I knew even then that the stockings made her legs look even better. She let me know though, in no uncertain terms, that intruding uninvited into a ladies’ bedroom while she was dressing was not something that polite little boys do. Kids aren’t stupid; they learn pretty quickly that there are certain social mores, like taking precautions to cover the undergarments beneath your clothing, that are not to be violated. This only makes them all the more enticing when they are broken.

But you don’t want to involve your mom in breaking those mores , for a number of reasons, not the least of which she has the power to make life miserable for you in these kinds of situations. It’s safer (and more fun) to explore this curiosity about the feminine species somewhere else, like school.

Some of the girls about eleven or twelve years old would come to school trying to emulate their older sisters. This meant wearing stockings and high heels. Our classroom was on the second floor. As we were lining up the steps to go back to class after lunch, some of us guys would lag behind to position ourselves at the bottom of the flight of stairs, hoping that some of the girls wearing dresses and stockings would be at the front of the line and therefore, above us at the top of the stairs. Occasionally we got lucky enough to get a glimpse of some lovely legs and stockings. It was fun because some of the girls caught on to what we were doing and became embarrassed, trying to cover themselves. Others, realizing the effect they were having on us, had their own fun pretending like they didn’t care, or better yet, there were a few adventurous souls who liked to tease us by putting on a little show.

I even had a crush on a young teacher, blonde and petite, who used to catch up on her reading while we were doing homework. She’d push back from her desk and cross her legs. Her tight skirt would ride up enough to show us some stocking welt and sometimes even a little bare skin above it.

In middle school, one of our classrooms was arranged with the desks all along the walls. Somehow I arranged to have Debbie sit next to me. She was a dark eyed, dark haired beauty, taller and older than most of us and therefore (I reasoned) more sophisticated and knowledgeable in matters of sex. She was the girl who must’ve been the inspiration for ZZ Top’s song Mexican Blackbird. She’d wear these plaid skirts to school that fanned out over the chair when she sat down. From the side, I was close enough to be able to slip my hand underneath without anyone but her aware of what I was doing and run my hand up and down the stockings on her long legs. She let me casually explore the feel of her thighs through the stockings, all the way to the welt where the garter attached, and beyond to the bare skin above. I used to run my finger along the top of her garter strap, as far as I could without her getting anxious, then I’d slide my finger between her garter and leg and run its length back down to the top of her stockings, back and forth while the teacher blathered on about who knows what. It’s a miracle I never got caught, or that I ever got out of eighth grade.

Then later, in high school, some girls, for whatever reason, would dress provocatively, sometimes overdoing it intentionally or unintentionally. Their skirts would be way too short for their stockings, so when they sat down the stocking welt would show. Sometimes the hem of their dress would hang just below the welt, so that any movement, like stepping up, would give anyone paying attention a peek at the tops of the stockings.

Sometimes a garter strap, hastily attached in the morning because the wearer was not fully awake or in a hurry, would come undone during the course of the day. We’d get a nice, leisurely view of a stocking sagging below the hem of a dress until one of her friends alerted her to her “embarrassing” condition.

This is the stuff that memories are made of, which is my point. These memories were made during the budding and blossoming of fully heightened sexual awareness. They became imprinted forever in our brains. It is my contention that what we derive pleasure from as children, we try to perpetuate on into our adult lives. My fumbling forays into the realm of sexual exploration produced some vivid memories of excitement and adventure with women that in some respects have never been equaled. That they occurred while these young and beautiful women were wearing stockings was perhaps, in hindsight, by coincidence. It made enough of an impression on me to seek out the same intense thrill as an adult, with the added advantage of now being able to communicate openly and frankly with members of the opposite sex about such issues without fear of ostracism or embarrassment. Dear Mercedes, when I was 12 my parents separated and my father married a very attractive 35 year old women named Mary. Soon after my father married her, Mary got a job as a legal aid and had to dress in a skirt or a nice pants suit. Now Mary had a really nice figure and looked great when she wore nice clothes. Hi Mercedes,
Just looked through your site- very, very nice, I'll give it a
10+. I especially liked the embarrassing moments section.
I was wondering if you would ever consider doing a series of fan or
wind blown skirts or dresses. To me, there is nothing more exciting
that seeing a skirt rising up with legs covered in stockings. I started
watching this at the age of 9 or 10, when my mom would go shopping
downtown. There was a street corner where the multi stored buildings
met noted for the breezy effects and skirts would fly on a moments
notice, and I found myself getting very excited watching. As I grew
older, our school had a great place to watch- the main stairwell leading
out. The stairs was built with a tunnel effect and since the doors
faced west, there was always a breeze coming in, and the doors were
blocked open at the end of the day. Any gal coming down the stairs
would come down with no wind, and as she turned the corner, WHAM, up
shot her skirt and with her hands full of books, quite a view was had.
I worked at the local supermarket, and the skirt blowing was A+. I saw
everything from a gentle billowing of a skirt like a parachute opening
as groceries were placed in a car to a really windy day which blew
skirts up, not only above hips or head, but literally, completely over
the roof of the car, where the skirt hem flapped like a flag. The place
I work has its stairwells just like the school, and there are a few women
that still wear dresses or skirts and nice views do happen, but with
most women now wearing pants, those views are not seen very much. My
wife would wear dresses when I first met her, and I remember one time,
we were going to a restaurant to meet friends and the drive took us down
Interstate I-95. Every time a tractor-trailer would pass us, the hem
of her skirt would get sucked or blown out the window. It would be
billowed up in the car and because it had a taffeta like underskirt, it
cracked like a whip as it flapped out the window, causing my heart to
race along with other effects (wish I had a video camera then).
Please consider the request for the blowing skirts- I think that
every guy looking a this section would be excited as I would be.

A couple of days ago while reading the tales in the Men's Column one of
them from "C" really hit me. It almost could have been written by me.

In 1952 I met a 21 year old female who was the prettiest girl I ever went
out with. And being a Southern gal from Alabama she wore garter belts,
stockings and dresses or skirts -- even gloves. A true female with
Southern values. She was the only gal I ever truly loved. However because
of maternal interference we never got married.

Though I did tie up with her in 1956. By then she was married and had 3
children but her tummy was as flat as I shed had never had any children.
Shortly after she was supposed to move to Alaska -- but that never
happened and I lost track of her,

some years ago I was in New Orleans and looking at a map discovered that
her home town wasn't really that far away so drove up there and tore a
page out of the phone book that had a page with her maiden name -- could
not remember here married last name. Well a couple of phone calls later
hit pay dirt. Was able to talked to her as she was visiting here sister
the next day. Almost screwed up because I forgot about the 1 hour time
difference from the Midwest.

To make a long story short we got back together a couple of weeks later
and she practically scared me to death when I saw -- she had orange hair
-- a dye job that went wrong.

After that I'd see her every couple of months. Bought here shoes (mules
which I call "sexy" shoes with 4 or 5 inch heels and lingerie from my
favorite source Frederick's of Hollywood. Their bras (Pushup) and garter
belts are really great. Yes she was still into wearing garter belts and
stockings. Also got her a few pairs of stocking and thigh highs to be
worn with a garter belt. As an aside cannot stand 6 garter types -- only
the 4 garter type. Also a great selection of crotch less panties.

And per the letter from "C" my first wife when I met her was into girdles
-- a blight on mankind and the same as panty hose "the work of the
devil"! Finally was able to talk her into garter belts and away went the
girdles.

My second wife was a "C" explained -- she didn't even know how to put on
a garter belt. It was backwards.

The last couple of years did not see here because of sickness -- 4 bout
of pneumonia during that time. Earlier this year she suffered a severe
stroke which took her life. It has really devastated me.

Also recently had a catalog sent to me from PABO,com. Great selection of
push up and 1/4 cup bras and garter belts. Personally do not like slips.

AS one final note will NOT go out more than twice if a woman insists on
wearing panty hose.

My favorite colors for stocks are smoke and black (Also like black or red
garter belts -- these are the most common colors. White is too virginal.

Here is one of my stories, maybe you want to publish it on your stocking -
stories site.

I have frequently looked after a little boy 2 years old at the end, same age
as mine at that time, for Desley, a friend of my wife, who was working in a
shop.

Whenever she came to our place, she wore 3ple - x thin hose, tan coloured,
my personal favourite. And my little two - year old couldn't get over it

Now I often dream of her, what would have happened.

I just came across this great site. My wife was convinced to everyday
wearing of stockings and garter belts back in 1988 when she joined Mary Kay
Cosmetics. I wasn't to happy about her going out all dressed up in the
evening to sell cosmetics so when she came home one night got undressed for

This is this first time I've written to you and I'm sorry if the fact I'm not using a PC hinders you putting this on your site, your plea for more input really inspired me to write to you as I often visit your site to see what's new and there are never any new letters from other people- so disappointing! I say great because it is, the fact that its not pornographic is a nice change and that a lot of men, and women come here. Also a pair of the 7denier RHT stockings which are so delicate I'm scared she's going to tear them putting them over her foot!

As you can tell, in five days all my Christmas's will have come at once!

At the moment my girlfriend is pregnant, but she still wears stockings quite often. You are doubtless familiar with the following quotation:

“There are two types of women; those that like stockings and those who
consider them too racy; however there is only one type of man; those that
like stockings”.

I confess that I definitely fall into the “one type of man” category and
have been this way ever since my early 20’s, when I had my first serious
relationship. With retrospect the young lady in question had many flaws but
one thing that she really did have going for her was her dress sense. She
never wore trousers to work and when I first started to go out with her I
was delighted to discover that she only ever wore stockings under her
skirts. Even at weekends it was never that difficult to dissuade her from
wearing jeans and to get her to slip into a flowing dress with stockings
underneath instead. Needless to say I found it very arousing when she was
dressed like this, not least because little or no clothing had to be removed
before she was ready for some very erotic love-making! Better still this
was the late 1980’s, just before hold-up stockings really came to the fore,
hence my girlfriend’s stockings were always held aloft by those magical
things that we Brits call suspenders and you Americans call garters. For a
while I not only lived with the girl but worked with her as well. What fun
it was to watch her putting on her stockings in the morning and then to see
her at work for the rest of the day, knowing her little secret and wondering
what the other guys in the office would think if they knew it too! Alas one
day something very unpleasant happened – she began wearing tights! From

been one of my favourite sports. A glimpse of welt, in the office, on a
train or bus, or in a bar or restaurant is guaranteed to make my day and
over the years I confess that I have been fortunate enough to be afforded
many such glimpses. Likewise I have become quite practiced at spotting the
tell tale line and bump of a suspender belt worn under a tight pencil skirt,
which is no less gratifying. But alas such privileged views are becoming a
thing of the past and contrary to what many people may think this has
absolutely nothing to do with tights.

One of the things that surprises me when I read your site visitors’
contributions is the fact that so much negative comment is directed towards
tights (or pantyhose) as you call them. Now don’t get me wrong, because I
do think that stockings are far more sexy and hygienic than tights, but in
my opinion trousers are a far greater enemy than tights. The feminists can
pass a death sentence on me if they wish, but I must confess that I really
hate seeing women wearing trousers, particularly in the workplace. Why?
Well for a start on a basic level, I just don’t like the trouser look. In
my humble opinion women in trousers never look as smart and certainly don’t
look as feminine or attractive as they do in dresses or skirts. But on a
deeper level just think of the implications for stocking fans. If a lady
wears skirts she is immediately confronted with a daily dilemma: stockings,
tights or bare legs? And even if she chooses bare legs or tights today,
there is always the possibility that she might wear stockings tomorrow! But
if she wears trousers all the time the question never arises. Yet, it
surely cannot have escaped your notice Mercedes that as far as ladies are
concerned trousers have now reached almost complete respectability and the
wearing of skirts appears to be in precipitous decline. This in turn
presents a major threat to the future wearing of stockings.

Consider the evidence. The office trouser ban is now a thing of the past,
indeed on this side of the pond it has even been ruled in court to be sexual
discrimination. And all those uniformed women such as policewomen, nurses
and flight attendants have switched or are in the process of switching to
trousers. In the UK even schoolgirls have got in on the act, with one girl
winning the right to wear trousers with her school uniform after she
instigated legal proceedings against her school. I work in the City of
London, which has traditionally been very conservative as regards dress
codes, but even here attitudes have changed. In my firm ladies have been
allowed to wear trousers for many years, but until even a short while ago
many women with whom I work seldom if ever wore trousers and the majority of
my female colleagues wore skirts most of the time, perhaps wearing trousers
once very 1-2 weeks for some variety. Imagine my dismay to observe so many
of these women abandoning their skirts and jumping into trouser suits over
the last couple of years. For a lover of traditional feminine clothing such
as myself, this is nothing short of catastrophic!

So tell me Mercedes, where do you stand on all this? Do you ever wear
pants? If so shame on you! One of the nice things about reading through
your site is that it makes me realize that I am not alone and that there are
in fact many other men and (more importantly) women who somehow yearn for
the days when nice girls didn’t wear trousers and even bad girls were seldom
allowed to do so. I love to read remarks like “I never wear pants…sorry but
I think that women look better in skirts” and further comments urging other
women to “abandon your jeans, combat trousers, hipsters etc” and to
rediscover the joys of dressing like a real woman. One of my particular
favourites concerned the lady who reinvented herself by packing away every
pair of trousers that she owned and invested in a new wardrobe consisting
exclusively of skirts and stockings.

Carry on the good work of promoting stockings Mercedes. But in the future
could we please have a lot more trouser bashing and promotion of skirts!

I have been a fan of your website for over a year now and have always enjoyed it. I ordered a few photo sets from ya a while back and I still look at them a lot. I was very happy to know that there are a few women out there

It is by a happy coincidence that I happened to arrive at this Mecca of Full-Fashioned Femme Fatale-ity (LOL). I was directed here by a very charming lady I got into a chat with online, and have been quite impressed with this wonderful site. Not only are there the items and photos for sale, but you've also tapped into the reasons, both male and female, behind the love of legs, stockings and garters and a forum for them.
Now, then, since perusing the site, I decided to post my own thoughts and opinions on the matter to share. Naturally, I think that stockings and heels, as well as dresses, are very beautiful and flattering on a woman, esp. in a day and age where pants and guy-style clothing is the (sadly) norm for women. When a woman takes the time and effort to wear stockings and heels, it signifies to me that she cares about herself and about me when I'm with her. Though it's few and far between, the times it happens are thrilling, even just on a low-key encounter. And if I should get to stroke along the silky smoothness, or massage her lovely feet in them, well, magnificent, I'd be her slave. ;-)
The other side of the coin for me is that in my humble experience, women have a rough time with self-esteem in general. Very attractive and vivacious women think of themselves as "ravingly average", discounting their physical and intellectual beauty. found one benefit of stockings glaringly missing.

My first memory of nylon was when I was a toddler. Hanging onto my mothers’ leg became my security blanket in a sense. I came to like the soft feel of the nylon.

Why is a woman wearing stockings more attractive to men than one who is
not? There are as many answers as there are men, but some themes are
common. The attraction seems to be there for most men, at least in "the
west". A woman must be attractive in other ways for stockings to

Hard to believe, but my first two wives did not know how to wear a garter
bet. My first wife was really into girdles. Took me a long, Long time to get her into

One tip you might want to pass on the your fellow stocking lovers, that I
noted from your HP photo. Always wear panties over the garters. In that
way the garters and stockings can stay on for love making. My experience,
and it is not extensive, is that girls have to unfasten garters to take of
panties and therefore the entire outfit comes off. A big part of the sexual
appeal for men is having the stockings and garters on - felling the

I grew up in with 3 older sisters, and as a result have always been more
observant of women, and their attire. My sister who is closest in age
often asked my opinion on how she looked prior to her going out. I am
sure this helped me become more observant. It has been easy for me to

What’s the big deal about women in stockings as opposed to panty hose any way?

"Everything" is the simplest answer I can come up with.

For those of you who think women’s hosiery is the female version of men’s socks, this essay will mean absolutely nothing.

What is the most comic figure in the universe? In my opinion it is the failed actor or entertainer starring in a 1940s porno movie wearing nothing but a sheepish smile and black socks.

What is the most beautiful thing in the world, to me? A beautiful woman like Mercedes, or even the not quite so beautiful woman who lives next door, caught in her lingerie, including black nylons, smoothly gartered at mid-thigh by a corset or garter belt.

Why? Because there is nothing in the masculine world of habedashery that contains such mystery, sexiness and sensuality as a woman in a pair of well-filled nylons. And let me freely admit here that is was my hidden watching of such a girl next door drawing on a pair of full fashioned Beautiful Bryan stockings she had borrowed from my stepmom when I was 11 that introduced me to sexual excitement.

The neighbor’s last pair had popped a run minutes before her date was to arrive to take her to the senior prom at Polytechnic High School in my home town. I can still see her in her frothy prom formal, her firm thighs bare except for dangling garter straps from her white garter belt as she drew the dark brown stockings up her shapely calves, her toes gleaming with scarlet nail polish and her nimble fingers fastening the garter tabs to their tops. As she ran her hands up and down the hose, smoothing them and bringing their seams into perfect straightness I became a stocking and leg man forever.

Her face was rapt in concentration on the simple but sensous task; but there were traces of self-satisfaction there too at the picture she knew her legs made as she slipped the high-heeled ankle strap sandals onto her stocking feet, fastened them and clattered out of the house to meet the man she would later marry.

How many of you guys get that kind of joy and satisfaction from drawing on your mid-calf Gold Bonds? If there are any hands up out there, then you never saw a desirable woman drawing on her stockings, or else I don’t know how to put on socks!

To me, socks are something to keep blisters from forming on your feet on long marches; to women, stockings are a statement of their fashion sense, flair, and yes, their sexuality. They know the effect they have on us, which makes the current trend of seeing celebrity women and even the girl next door foregoing stockings or even the dreaded panty hose to appear barelegged in $500 designer evening sandals at spectaculars such as the Academy Award so strange and lamentable.

A strange woman walking by, muted rasps coming from her hose, hints at sexual abandon, at sensual secrets, at seduction, at her self-satisfaction with her looks and persona. She will always draw my glance.

A woman like Mercedes, who revels in wearing full fashioned nylons in public and posing for photos in them will have my rapt attention, and if one of her seams wanders off to the flank a bit, or a tiny run peeks up from her shoe vamp, then I will appreciate her as a goddess with a flaw, and therefore within reach of a common man, if he but had the courage to reach.

Can you feel that away about a guy in sagging crew socks? I think not. Stockings are a woman’s thing and while some may pooh pooh them as just another item of dress, not a woman that I have ever seen or heard of does not take the care to carefully tie her hosiery to her outfit. Why? Because deep in her heart she knows that stockings are a lure as powerful as any pheronome. They are weapons of gentle conquest, not some garment suffered to be worn without considerable thought and planning.

Men wear black socks with black or blue suits; brown socks with brown suits and that’s about as far as it goes.

In the 1950s, when I was in college, how stockings were worn denoted the chances for dalliance, according to the campus Lotharios.

In their view, if your date wore her panties OVER her garter belt and stockings, "Yes," was within the realm of hope. If she wore her hose OVER her panties, then home plate was blocked to all runners because of the trouble it would take to remove the hose then the underwear, and once the deed was done, replace everything.

In those days, dorm mothers had eagle eyes and a girl who left on a date wearing hose, but returned to the dorm at curfew with bare legs and her stockings in her purse was standing into serious harm’s way.

I’ve never had the courage to ask women if the panties over-hose over concept was true but I must admit that my pitifully few success would have to line up in the panties-over column.

As for panty hose, if you came to young adulthood when that was all girls and women were wearing, why enjoy them at your leisure. I, however, grew up in a full-fashioned world, then in the reinforced heel and toe and sandal foot world of soft, silk, slinky, sexy stockings and that is where I am content to remain. To me panty hose are pretty ugly garments, except for those that mimic garter belts that Mercedes so prettily models.

garters and high heels. I really do love it! I believe that women were

Anyways...as I thought about the question I asked you even before you answered
it, I came up with some of my own conclusions. So I will share them with
you...no need to write back...only if you wish.
One reason may be the trashy reason you mentioned. The other, however, may be
the following. The primary difference between you, perhaps, and my wife is that you see your
lingerie as part of your fashion...it is part of what you wear...what makes
you feel good throughout the day. We all have our favorite outfits...while I
wear suits for work, I feel most relaxed and myself in a good old pair of
levis. In the case of my wife, I believe her underwear is just that,
underwear. And while I have bestowed her with a wide assortment of gifts from
Victorias Secret, when she gets dressed...she looks at her lingerie simply as
a foundation. Maybe it is strange that I even care what she wears. But not
only do I buy her lingerie, I buy her most of her clothes as well. It is just
something I take an interest in as I try to bring out all the beauty I believe
she has. But that is the idea I have to overcome. I have actually thought about buying
her some theatre tickets and wrapping them in stockings as a prerequisite for
attending the event. I try to be imaginative, so I will try to figure
something out.
After reading through your site I do know one thing for sure, I stand a much

First of all congratulations on a great site. It's good to know that there
are so many kindred souls - both male and female - out there who also adore
silky stockings and feminine lingerie. Being British, I'll make no apology
for using UK terminology in my humble contribution, but I hope it will
still prove equally useful to our transatlantic cousins!
I personally have been crazy about silky stockings (especially 50s style
fully-fashioned) and suspender belts ever since my teens, and when at age
17 I had my first real "encounter" with a woman, it was with a girl a
couple of years older than me who was already a confirmed wearer of those
wonderful underthings. That finally did it for me and I've been a hopeless
case ever since - and I'm proud of it! To me there is nothing more
beautiful, alluring and sexy to admire and to feel than a pair of female
legs encased in sheer, silky stockings held in place by nicely taut
suspender straps stretched across smooth, feminine thighs.
I've always counted myself fortunate that (with one solitary exception),
the women I've been involved with over the years have all been more than
happy to share my passion with me. I'm now married and my wife often
dresses up for me in suspender belts and sheer stockings, both in the
bedroom and sometimes when we go out, which in its own way is just as much
of a turn-on!!
Many guys though aren't so fortunate, and even women often shy away from
wearing stockings and suspenders, citing them as "uncomfortable",
"impractical" or "whorish" - most of which is down to ignorance because
many of them don't know how to wear suspenders & stockings correctly. It's
true - I learned very early on from a lovely lady to whom I'll always be
eternally grateful that there's a "right" way and a "wrong" way to go about
things here!! So, having learned from my own mistakes, I thought that by
writing in I may be able to help some of you other guys out there to avoid
the same pitfalls when you're out shopping for sexy attire for your
favorite lady.
Rule number one - never buy cheap garbage which will make her look and feel
like she's just staggered in off Sunset Strip or the Reeperbahn. For
instance, some of the stuff you find in sex shops may look sexy, but always
feel the texture before you buy. Imagine wearing rough-edged plastic-feel
lace around the vital parts of your anatomy and you can start to see the
problem. Shiny satin and silky textures are fine, but always go for good
quality which is soft to the touch. The extra expense will be worth it
because she'll appreciate it too.
Secondly, when it comes to suspenders, always buy a well-fitting belt with
metal clasps if you can find one. They're less common and usually a bit
more expensive than belts with plastic clasps, but are less likely to break
and they tend to stay fastened more reliably. For bedroom activity,
suspender belts with the usual four straps are fine. But for normal wear
for longer periods, try to find deeper suspender belts with six or even
eight straps. These hold up the stockings at more points around the top,
making them less likely to slide down the leg or twist round. One common
mistake made even by women is that when they have belts with just four
suspender straps, they fasten one at the front and one at the side of each
leg. So the back of the stockings becomes a problem, with them slipping
down and becoming generally uncomfortable, leading to cries of
"impractical", "horrible to wear" and "give me back my tights"!!! All of
which is totally unnecessary because greater comfort is achieved just by
fastening one suspender at the front and one as far back as possible, with
the strap stretched across the rear thigh. This in turn means that the back
suspender strap should be adjusted so that it's longer than the front one.
Having a suspender fastened at the back is particularly important when
she's wearing fully-fashioned or other seamed stockings, otherwise the seam
won't stay straight for very long. It's also important that the suspender
straps shouldn't be too short, otherwise the stockings will inevitably pull
down the belt. So avoid belts on which the suspender strap lengths can't be
adjusted. One final point which I should mention about suspender belts and
lingerie in general is that if she likes wearing tight-fitting dresses and
skirts, avoid garments with lots of frills and bows, as these would show up
big-time through her outer garments and are therefore totally unsuitable
for normal wear. I hope this has been of some interest or help to someone.
Most of it's common sense and there's no great mystery attached to it. But
its astounding how many men make elementary mistakes when out buying
lingerie for their ladies. I know - I've done it myself in the past!!

I wanted to write and tell you I think women dressed in garter and stockings
are a real turn on for me. I have been married for 13 years and when my wife
and i got together I told her that I hated pantyhose. I asked her to wear

What an impressive website! Your site is now number 1 in my books. I'm a
fairly old fashioned type ( 25 year marriage with no cheating, etc.
etc.) who, being born in '52, was conditioned, I suppose, to find f. f.

writing about or writing about a problem and through the course of
writing...you actually discover your own thoughts for the first time?

OK, let see.....since your site is about the love of stockings, lets see!
First of all let me say that I love women.......what I mean by that is that I
adore women, or quite frankly have always been intrigued and in awe of women.
I find them interesting, intriquing, mysterious, and yes, some I'm also even
attracted too..ha. Anyway, about stockings.....I love seeing and the thought
of a lady wearing stockings and always have. Now I've tried to understand why
I don't feel the same about panty hose.....when you think about it, panty hose
makes a ladies legs look terrific just like stockings do, but yet I don't
think of them in the same way as stockings. If a ladies legs catch your eye
and as you admired them....if she were to lift up her dress and show you that
she was in fact wearing panty hose, I would feel cheated or that she was
cheating.....as if to say yes, I have great legs, but look its all a
trick.....I'm cheating! I know that sounds stupid, but....

Maybe when I think about it more, the thing with stockings is that when a lady

So with all that rambling I should add that I do have a theory about seamed
stockings and why they seem to grab a mans attention. Men have many
instictive attractions to women most of which they don't understand....I've
read a few articles trying to explain all this and the only ones that kind of
make sense say that men have unconcious attractions to the angles of a ladies
face and figure....the shape of her breast, the lines of her face....the
shape and lines of her legs...Well if that is the case and a man is attracted
to the shape or outline of a ladies legs which I beleive to be true......then
the idea of putting a fine black line over the shape of a ladies legs..would
tend to enhance that shape...as if you were to outline any object....it stands
out even more. So in my mind a seam following the natural shape of a ladies
legs.....would enhance that which the nature of men is attracted too.....

woman dressed in a garterbelt and stockings has a very unusual effect on
me. First I'd like to say I've just turned 20, I've been turned on by
garterbelts and stockings for several years now, (seeing them in movies,

Stockings have always had the edge on tights(pantyhose)as they were previously better quality and you could always tell just by looking at the legs "what was on" . A nice frilly or lacey garter belt is a lot better to view , when a skirt or dress is removed than hose wrapped around a waist no matter what the quality.The best bit though is to caress a thigh and go from the stockings to the bare leg .... mmmmmmm nothing beats it.

You are currently asking for us mere males to write extolling the virtues of stockings as opposed to tights (pantyhose). From the WWW it seems that there are some men who actually prefer tights but I would think that the ratio must be about 90% in favour of stockings. Why? A good question. I think from my own point of view there are two main reasons:

1) With a little luck one can catch glimpses of stocking top in every day situations without the wearer having to have exposed herself to any major degree but, being something that the wearer would not normally show, there is the forbidden fruit aspect. Exciting for the voyeur and the revealer without really being embarrassing. (I think this is one of the reasons I get such a kick out of sighting slips as well) I have had the enjoyment three times recently of spotting women wearing stockings as they walk down the road. In each case there was no deliberate flashing on their part, purely a glimpse when their skirt flapped open or from behind when the slit at the back of their skirt was high enough to show the stocking tops. I think in each case they were probably hold up stockings rather than the wearer having suspenders (garter belt) on but I'm not complaining.

2) The other main reason is really when in more intimate situations ones partner can be fully accessible (if you take my meaning!) whilst still wearing stockings and the sensual thrill of running ones hands over nylon from toes to thighs and then to feel the lacy suspenders and follow them to the ultimate delights is too strong a feeling to resist

First, I feel so very fortunate that I have the wife I have. Early on in our 25 years of marriage, she learned of my fascination for a stockinged leg. Imagine my surprise when she began to occasionally wear them! Nothing enhances a woman's figure better than the stockings & garter. I got my wife to start wearing s&g while on honeymoon in England years ago and she now has quite a collection. I must tell you how we got a newlywed into wearing this lovely stuff. Speaking from personal experience, most women I know consider stockings to be a particular perversion of their own partner. They do not seem to realize that about 99.99% of men find stockings attractive and alluring. Pantyhose may be more convenient to wear but they lack a certain basic femininity, look at what a stocking over the face does for a bank robber, that’s what pantyhose does for your bottom. Stockings add to the grace of the female leg, by giving it extra colour, shape and texture; while the garter belt with its attached stockings forms a frame and erotic focus around that area of the female body that is the ultimate target of male desire. Please remember that the visual and tactile is very important to the male libido. But it’s not just in the bedroom, the sight of a stocking top is pleasing and mildly exciting at any time and in any place. Men do not find women attractive just because they wear stockings; stockings are an enhancement to their existing beauty, without wanting to sound patronizing, it’s like the icing on a cake. Boy, do you bring back memories of those "golden days of yesteryear" when all females wore sheer nylon stockings. That phrase from the Lone Ranger ought to date me....I grew up in the forties and started High School in 1949. I remember the war years when the girls used pancake makeup on their legs and penciled-in a seam with an eyebrow pencil, just so it would look like they were wearing nylons (nylons were pulled off the market in order to support the war effort....nylon was used to make parachutes). But, their much-cherished stockings came back in spades in late 1945. A pair cost $.50-$1.00. Girls started bugging their mothers at 11-12 "when can I wear nylons"? Usually by 13 they were allowed to wear nylons and semi-high heels for special occasions. This was the thrill of their life. They were now a grown woman. Seeing stocking tops in those days was the norm, not the exception. The female conception of stockings then was that they were to cover the legs below the skirt, not the entire leg. So the general practice was to wear stockings just above the knee. You can see this in Gil Elvgren's Pinups from the '40's and '50's. All it took was a slight swirl of the skirt or a sitting position to show the tops. This was not considered an invitation or a suggestive gesture....after all, the tops were part of the stockings. The atmosphere was very puritan in those days, and this didn't seem to violate any social ethics. It actually seemed like the girls enjoyed showing their stocking tops as much as us boys liked seeing them.
One of the favorite skirts back in those days was a full skirt with a 2 to 3 layer taffeta petticoat underneath to make the skirt stand out. This was easy for her to handle when she was standing, but when she sat, the front of the skirt would rise about 18". Wow, what a view. And a favorite dress shoe for girls was the "ballerina", which was nothing more than a thin silk slipper. Now, picture what it was like to see a 16-17 year-old girl in a full skirt, dark-brown full-fashioned nylons and ballerinas. It was a pleasure to open the car door and seat them properly....it was the best show in town The usual date then was the drive-in movie. Like I said before, the atmosphere then was puritan, particularly for us teenagers, but boy was there a lot of groping In the middle of winter it doesn't take a lot of heavy breathing to fog up the inside of a car's windshield, and I sat through three years of classic movies without seeing any of them. It was usually acceptable for a boy to put his hand as high as the stocking top, since that was in plain view, but any further excursion would usually result in broken fingers.
Wow, have I been rambling. You see what a "glimpse of stocking" does to me. They were the most sensuous pieces of "clothing" that a female could wear. And then they traded them for the comfort of pantyhose. Actually, I think that there are more reasons than comfort involved, but I'll save that philosophy for another day.

What’s the big deal about women in stockings as opposed to panty hose any way?

"Everything" is the simplest answer I can come up with.

For those of you who think women’s hosiery is the female version of men’s socks, this essay will mean absolutely nothing.

What is the most comic figure in the universe? In my opinion it is the failed actor or entertainer starring in a 1940s porno movie wearing nothing but a sheepish smile and black socks.

What is the most beautiful thing in the world, to me? A beautiful woman like Mercedes, or even the not quite so beautiful woman who lives next door, caught in her lingerie, including black nylons, smoothly gartered at mid-thigh by a corset or garter belt.

How many of you guys get that kind of joy and satisfaction from drawing on your mid-calf Gold Bonds? If there are any hands up out there, then you never saw a desirable woman drawing on her stockings, or else I don’t know how to put on socks!

A strange woman walking by, muted rasps coming from her hose, hints at sexual abandon, at sensual secrets, at seduction, at her self-satisfaction with her looks and persona. She will always draw my glance.

Men wear black socks with black or blue suits; brown socks with brown suits and that’s about as far as it goes.

In the 1950s, when I was in college, how stockings were worn denoted the chances for dalliance, according to the campus Lotharios.

In those days, dorm mothers had eagle eyes and a girl who left on a date wearing hose, but returned to the dorm at curfew with bare legs and her stockings in her purse was standing into serious harm’s way.

I’ve never had the courage to ask women if the panties over-hose over concept was true but I must admit that my pitifully few success would have to line up in the panties-over column.
